After quashing all rumours mills the Nokia 7.1 Plus is finally got unveiled by HMD Global on November 30th, Friday at an event in London, globally. The HMD Global seems like grabbing all the price segment and wants to rules over it. Few Months before they had launched the third and upgraded version of Nokia 6- Nokia 6.1 Plus. Now under the mid-range price tag, they have come up with another flagship named Nokia 7.1 Plus. The Phone this time got many new features and upgradations like- dual camera setup with Zeiss optics with HDR10, pure display features and many more with two variant options.
However, the design philosophy is identically similar to the Nokia 6.1 Plus and Nokia 5.1 Plus. The notch display with sturdy chin, rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, vertical camera alignment. Thus it will be exciting to see what makes it in standing out from one of its sisters, either in terms of specification or pricing.
Nokia 7.1 versus Nokia 6.1 Plus: Specification
First of all, both the phones the Nokia 7.1 Plus and Nokia 6.1 Plus sports full HD+ display with the resolution of 1080X2280 pixels and 19:9 aspect ratio. Although, the Nokia 7.1 Plus is having a diagonally larger 5.84 inches PureView display panel whereas the Nokia 6.1 Plus has only 5.8 inches. But the Nokia 6.1 Plus also forgoes the HDR 10 support with Purview Display panel. Either in the terms of protection both the handsets have corning gorilla glass 3 covering. The Nokia 7.1 Plus has real-time SDR to HDR conversion while using a 16-bit process.
In the hardware specification, both the phones are powered by the same chipset QualcommSnapdragonn 636. But in the ROM and RAM management, the Nokia 6.1 Plus offers a single configuration of 4GB RAM and 64GB onboard memory. Wherelse the Nokia 7.1 Plus providing two options to choose- 3GB RAM/32GB onboard storage and 4GB RAM/64GB onboard storage. Besides this, both the phones are having the option to expand the storage via MicroSD card up to 400GB.
The Nokia 7.1 plus and Nokia 6.1 plus are equipped with dual nano sims (Hybrid Slots). Both the handsets are running on Android One Programme and come with Android 8.1 oreo as stock version. While the company has slatted the confirmation call to provide Android 9.0 Pie update in Nokia7.1 Plus in a next month and for Nokia 6.1 Plus in an October month.
In the design department, the Nokia 7.1 Plus and Nokia 6.1 Plus have similar elements as above already mentioned- vertical dual camera layout, rear glass panel, rear-mounted fingerprint scanner. Further, in the camera department, the Nokia 7.1 Plus sports 12-megapixel primary sensor with autofocus and f/1.8 aperture. Along the supportive sensor of 5megapixelsl with fixed focus & f/2.4 aperture. The rear camera in Nokia 7.1 Plus has Zeiss optics lens, EIS and two-phase detection. While on the other hand, the Nokia 6.1 Plus also has a dual camera setup of 16 megapixels as the primary sensor and 5-megapixel of secondary sensor. It’s both sensors are having f/2.0 aperture and 1-micron pixel size.
If we talk about the front cameras, the Nokia 7.1 Plus is featured with 8-megapixel of fixed focus sensor with f/2.0 aperture and 84-degree field view. That will be helpful in taking the group selfies. The Nokia 6.1 Plus has 16-megapixels sensor with f/2.0 aperture and 1-micron pixel size.
Once more, both the handsets, the Nokia 7.1 Plus and Nokia 6.1 Plus are fueled with same 3,060 mAh of non-removable battery. Despite that, the Nokia 6.1 Plus support only 10 watts of fast charging, which take 45-50 mins for 50 per cent of the battery. On the other side, the Nokia 7.1 Plus comes with supportive of 18 watts fast charging. Thus the company claiming to delivers the 50 per cent in just 30 minutes.
The Nokia 7.1 Plus and Nokia 6.1 Plus, both exhibit software based face unlock authentications.
While the connectivity options concerns, both of the handsets are 4G LTE supportive, having type-c charging and 3.5mm headphone jack, respectively. The Nokia 6.1 Plus is slightly less bulky at 151 gms compared to Nokia 7.1 Plus which is at 159 gms.
Nokia 7.1 versus Nokia 6.1 Plus: Pricing
The Nokia 7.1 Plus is launched in India for Rs.19,999 with single variant option- 4GB RAM and 64GB storage. The other version 3GB RAM/32GB storage variant is kept for European markets only. The phone will be available in two colour: Gloss Midnight Blue and Gloss Steel variants. It is been on pre-ordering mode and the first stock will start delivering from 7th of December.
The Nokia 6.1 Plus has been tipped at the price for Rs.15,999 with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage. The colour option is available to purchase Gloss Black, White variant and Midnight Blue. The handset can be purchased only through Flipkart and Nokia online stores in the country. Even with this, various online offers are existing for Nokia 6.1 Plus.
