So finally Vivo launched its new smartphone on 29th may, the first phone with under-display fingerprint sensor at a sporting price for Rs.35,990 only which makes it the new option for smartphone seeker under the mid-range segment. So, the question is that it is justified to compare this phone with the new innovative idea(under-display fingerprint)? Well here is the review of all new Vivo X21.
Vivo X21- Design and Display
Vivo X21 has most pleasant design among other smartphones under mid-range segment from Vivo till now. The phone is nicely packed with an all-black aluminium frame around with 3D-glass at the rear. It’s not that snazzy like other phones available in the market, which makes smartphone looks premium and beautiful. It has fluent edges all-around which give you grippy feeling in the hands. Moreover, phones weigh only 156.3gms and give the sense of confidence too.
The best part of Vivo X21 is its display, as it comes with a notch along hides a fingerprint scanner in it. it sports a 6.28inch display with SUPER AMOLED and 19.9 aspect ratio with 85.2% screen to body ratio. It sports a resolution of 1080 x 2280 and a pixel density of 402. Yes, the front is no doubt inspired by iPhone X but still, its display is nice with AMOLED panel and has bezel-less on the sides.
The Screen is bright enough to give you decent readability and visibility under sunlight. All these features make it feel premium and best compared to other phones. But it doesn’t give you feature like Oneplus 6 to enable or disable notch feature.
Vivo X21- Under-Display Fingerprint Scanner
Vivo is the first smartphone manufacturer to incorporate this latest technology invention in their handsets. Also, it is the first phone in India to have an under-display fingerprint sensor in the smartphone.
Vivo has tied up with Synaptics to provide this latest technology invention for their phones. A sensor with a size of a thumbnail is pasted under AMOLED display. The impression of fingerprints reaches the sensor via the gaps between the display’s pixel. As a result, it makes the under-display sensor work surprisingly nice and fast.
The best thing in recognizing the position of a fingerprint scanner, a nicely designed fingerprint scan icon is placed on the display at the bottom from where you can know icon is here. It will work on both the condition whether you have an always-on display or not.

It implies simply that X21 can perform better among various multi-tasking games and editing apps with huge RAM capacity.
Now, Coming to its User Interface/software it runs on Android 8.1 operating system which is accompanied by Vivo’s own custom UI FunTouch version 4.0. That is quite similar to other Vivo devices.
Basically, you can notice one thing that overall its UI is similar to the iOS experience with a custom skin. Many of the looks of Apps, the absence of an app drawer, quick settings at the bottom and others are a bit similar to that. Apart from that, there are some cool tools and features which incorporates in it can be beneficial for everyday usage.
It also comes with gesture mode, which makes smartphone convenient to use. The gesture mode is similar to an iPhone X or Oneplus 5T/6 like swiping up from the right side to open the control panel and swiping up from left to go back to home screen. If you are swiping up from the centre, then it allows you toggle between the opened apps.
Overall, the UI is pretty simple and offers the same user experience which is pretty much the same.

Vivo X21- Quick Verdict
As New Vivo X21 is available for the price tag of Rs.35,990. Vivo X21 sits completely under mid-range segment but it offers bit same piece of specs as of like its competitors oneplus 6, Honor 10 or Samsung Galaxy A8 Plus. While other three competitor offers flagship hardware and superfast performance but X21 can blow in one term with the new innovative idea of under display fingerprint scanner for the first time. No doubt it has the best camera and nice design relatively to others but on papers, it can damper somewhere with its underpowered chipset.
